We thought the top 10 YouTube ad ranking would be dominated by 3 second Geico ads and the like. But it’s not. Half of these “ads” are actually short stories told in 3 – 6 minute videos that evoke emotion. Two of them could be low budget. They each gathered over a million views. The top video has over 50 Million views! What they all have in common is they appeal to something we like and want others to experience too. Think about our successful facebook posts with pictures of kids with racecars. They tell a story people want to share, just like these video ads.
Check ‘em out in the link below. #9 is a good example, “People who hate cats live with cats for a week.” Popular subject + potential conflict = 2.4 million views, each witness to shameless product placement.
