Since its incorporation in 2008, Mast Motorsports has become a dominant builder of high performance LS Gen IV engines. Their products range from high performance racecar and Marine, to airboat and other applications offering state-of-the-state crate and custom engine packages that produce excellent power and durability. Today, Mast Motorsports offers crate engines for these applications in horsepower increments from 550 to over 750.
“We started with MAHLE pistons and rings right from the beginning in our crate engines after testing a few other brands,” stated Horace Mast, Owner of Mast Motorsports. “We are comfortable with the technology they offered at the time and the technology used in their coatings. Since that time we have probably used a half a dozen piston designs from MAHLE and are very happy with the support we have received.”
Continued Mast, “MAHLE has also produced a much smaller ring package [thin ring 1mm/1mm/2mm] and we were involved in the testing of that ring package initially in a Marine application. From there, MAHLE has moved that program across the entire full range of products.”
In addition to MAHLE’s custom piston line, Mast is also highly pleased with their off-the-shelf pistons. For many Mast Motorsports engine builds, the stock MAHLE pistons are well suited to their usage according to Mast. For this highly successful company, they could afford any pistons and have selected MAHLE for their piston needs.
“MAHLE has been a very good partner in getting us the features we want in a piston,” concluded Mast.
