Designed specifically to handle the extreme loads associated with the ultra-high piston speeds found in large stroke engines, these GM LT1 PowerPak Plus pistons benefit from Mahle’s innovative piston preparation. Every piston is triple-coated starting first with a phosphate dry film to protect the pin bores from galling. Next, MAHLE’s proprietary anti-friction Grafal® coating is applied to the 2618 alloy true slipper skirt forgings. Finally, to withstand the higher cylinder temperatures and pressures associated with direct injection applications, the top ring grooves are hard anodized to protect against micro-welding – a common issue with lower quality pistons not prepared for this true high-performance environment. To ensure excellent piston ring to cylinder wall sealing with the least amount of friction, these MAHLE pistons feature their new HV385 design, which incorporates a 1.0mm top steel ring, 1.0mm napier second steel ring and 2.0mm oil steel ring.
MAHLE is the world’s largest piston manufacturer, and is the leading piston liaison between upper level professional racing, OE and the specialty equipment automotive aftermarket. All parts are machined to exacting tolerances on MAHLE manufactured, application specific equipment with unmatched quality and consistency. The U.S. Motorsports division operates in Fletcher, NC.
