October 29, 2012 – Celebrating the first-ever Flyweight Championship fight between Joseph Benavidez and Demetrious Johnson, Dodge and the UFC pitted two design shops against each other, TS Designs and Kelderman Air Suspension Systems to vie for the design and build of a custom 2013 Dodge Dart Limited. Kelderman was teamed with Johnson, TS Designs with Benavidez. The winning fighter would determine which shop was awarded the build! Titled “Fight for your Dart,” the contest – hosted on Dodge’s Facebook page – started July 20th and concluded with the fight August 24th of this year. After a split decision, Johnson was given the belt and Dodge’s “Fight for your Dart” custom build was awarded to Kelderman Air Suspensions!
From the Dodge Facebook page contest, two consumers were also selected & pitted against each other as potential winners of the customized 2013 Dodge Dart Limited – each eagerly anticipating whether their selected Flyweight champion fighter, either Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson or Joseph Benavidez, would come out the victor. Partnered with the victorious Johnson, Stephen Seipel became the owner of the custom designed 2013 Dodge Dart Limited.
“I still can’t believe this is happening,” Steve cheered, “I’ve never owned a new car before!” To collect his grand prize, Seipel will be flown to Las Vegas for SEMA Show 2012 to meet with Johnson again who will hand over the keys to his brand new Dodge Dart.
The tricked-out Dart was recoated in brilliant Matte Gecko Green paint and custom vinyl graphics, then accessorized with Katskin leather seats, JL Audio speakers, amplifier and subwoofer, Magnaflow Exhaust, American Racing wheels and finished off with Toyo Tires.
Jeff Kelderman said, “We were excited to have the opportunity to be involved with this promotion with Dodge and UFC. I’ve been able to restore quite a few Mopar muscle cars in the past, so we were looking forward to seeing how this Dart would turn out. The heritage of the Dart was something we incorporated into the design and we are very happy with how it turned out. We think that Stephen will be happy with the finished project and we’re looking forward to unveiling it for him at SEMA.”
