Whites Creek, TN (August 15, 2012) Beginning at 9AM on Saturday, September 1, 2012, Fontanel will be hosting the annual Whites Creek Fall Festival. Due to its continued expansion, the festival traditionally held at the historic James Gang House on Whites Creek Pike was in need of a larger venue, and Fontanel is pleased to provide the space and excited to host it in conjunction with the Save-a-Lot Yellow Ribbon 5K Run, benefiting the Tennessee Air & Army National Guard Combat Casualty Relief Fund.
“It is with great honor that we open up our facility and join forces for such an incredibly worthy cause,” stated Marc Oswald, co-owner of Fontanel. “These soldiers put their lives on the line throughout their tours of duty, and to be a part of raising funds to help them through the rough patches is something every American should want to do.”
Tawni Fite, PepsiCo Marketing Manager, Mid Atlantic Region added, “Speaking on behalf of both Save-a-Lot and Pepsi, I would like to thank all of the military from our community and our state for their valiant service in defending our country’s freedoms. We proudly attach our names to this annual event in order to provide relief to these brave men and women in their times of need.”
“And to tie this great event in with the annual Whites Creek Fall Festival allows our community to gather together and show its support, and provide a fun day of activities for all involved. I know it will be a great day,” concluded Oswald.
Celebrated singer, songwriter, actress author and motivational speaker Stella Parton will host a meet & greet from noon until 2:00PM where she sign her latest book Tell it Sister, Tell it and offer a live music performance. Growing up as a member of one of country music’s most creative families and the sixth of 12 children, the book is an empowering lesson in the healing nature of faith, the strength of belief, and the extraordinary effect one person’s will can have on the world.
Festival craftsmen will be offering tips & displaying their wares among dozens of booths including burnt wood designers, antique restorations, hand made soaps, black smith artists, jewelry designers, wood carvers, photographers and leather artists. Everyone is encouraged to come early and stay late in order to see and experience all of the activities available throughout the extensive property. Wander through the maze of booths, enjoy a delightful meal at Cafe Fontanella, splash in the creek, take the kids to the Fun Zone, hike the trails, or take a tour of the mansion as you await the exciting start of the Save-a-Lot Yellow Ribbon run slated to begin at 5:00PM. Military vehicles and the Army band will perform at its kick-off.
All participants in the race are encouraged to come early and “carb load” at Cafe Fontanella’s Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar, where both they and the 5K volunteers will be offered a 25% lunch discount from 11am-2pm. These same participants and volunteers will also be offered free mansion tours from 11am-4pm, with half price discounts for family & friends. All active military will also be offered free mansion tours, with half price tours for spouses and retired military.
At the conclusion of the Save-a-Lot Yellow Ribbon 5K run, everyone is invited to stay and enjoy a mini concert by country artist Andy Gibson, Curb Records latest rising star who will perform among others his celebrated single Wanna Make You Love Me, at the Pepsi Studio Gallery at approximately 6:30 PM.
The Fontanel Mansion is a 27,000 square foot log home formerly owned by Country Music Hall of Fame member Barbara Mandrell, and is Nashville’s only country music mansion tour, giving visitors a sneak peek into the lives of country music greats. With its Woods Amphitheater concert series, events and activities at the Pepsi Studio Gallery, the Italian kitchen and wine bar at Cafe Fontanella, family friendly atmosphere, and free activities like Frisbee golf and two miles of beautiful walking trails, Fontanel is truly the hidden gem of the South, and is located just minutes from downtown Nashville.
