Oskaloosa, IA (July 10, 2012) – When Jeff Kelderman, Vice President of Kelderman Air Suspension, and serious gearhead heard that James Hetfield, lead singer for the popular rock band Metallica was planning a car show, he figured he needed to get involved.
“I had heard that the event would be invitation only,” stated Kelderman. “…but you could submit your vehicle for potential selection to be featured at Hetfield’s car show at Bader Field during the Orion Festival in Atlantic City, New Jersey last month. I submitted both my ’70 Plymouth Superbird and ’68 Plymouth GTX and was ecstatic when I got the call that both my rides were selected to be showcased. The GTX features a Gen II stroked-and-bored Hemi with custom velocity stacks and the ‘Bird includes the original 440 Six-Barrel, Nitto Low Profile tires and Baer multi-piston disc brakes. Both are running custom side-exhaust and polished American Racing Torq Thrust wheels.”
The car show that Hetfield curated featured vehicles from 1972 and earlier and was packed all day, with awestruck fans admiring the unique machinery. Some cars were seriously tricked out, equipped with anything from beer kegs to machine guns. Others were simply remarkably well-preserved classics, including Hetfield’s own 1937 Lincoln Zephyr.
