Many automotive parts manufactures have done a great job in advertising with-in the endemic automotive press but have had limited opportunities to reach a mainstream audience. By combining efforts, the manufacturers have a greater presence in speaking to the country lifestyle. The country music fan and the automotive enthusiast customer profiles are very similar. According to Spring 2010 MRI data, 47% of country music fans serviced their own vehicle in the past 12 months. The majority of country music listeners are also fans of NASCAR and other automotive sports. The country music lifestyle tends to attract brand-loyal consumers. For these reasons there has been a big response industry-wide and willingness of the partner companies to sign on.
Zan Martin, President of Martin & Company and a current SEMA Board of Directors member says, “For many years now, I have recognized that the automotive aftermarket has done a great job of letting true enthusiasts know about their parts, and where to buy them…and unfortunately that we’ve pretty much saturated that effort. The missing link for developing a broader customer base has been in how to reach the fringe audience: the non-traditional automotive enthusiast (outside the realm of the “performance” segment), and lure them into our fold. This event does just that because both groups have a high level of demographic similarity. And for those people who are big racing fans and true gearheads, we know they will immediately gravitate to the Power Zone to see what’s the hottest from the aftermarket!”
