Some people are just like a force of nature, and Churchville, New York’s Dan Fletcher ranks right up there. The racing world is buzzing with Fletcher’s domination of the Stock and Super Stock classes at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Northwest Nationals which completed his sweep of the NHRA Western Swing.
It was at the Northwest Nationals where Fletcher grabbed his 84th and 85th wins to become the 17th driver in history to record a double win, tying him with NHRA legend Bob Glidden for fourth place on the all-time NHRA wins list. This also marks the second time Fletcher has swept the Western Swing (1994), winning Super Stock in Denver two weeks earlier and Stock the previous weekend in Sonoma, California.
The celebration of Fletcher’s record wins comes shortly after fellow Jiffy-tite Motorsports racers decimated 6th Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals (June 27-30), grabbing first place finishes in five categories: Mike DePalma in Comp, Phil Unruh in Super Stock, Bill Skillman in Stock, Nick Folk in Super Comp, and Ray Connolly in Super Gas.
Earlier that same month, at the Inaugural Auto-Plus NHRA New England Nationals (June 20-23), Jiffy-tite Motorsports contingency racers grabbed three podiums; two wins by Anthony Bertozzi in Super Stock and Kent Hanley in Super Comp, and a runner-up for Ken Moses in T/D.
