Nashville, TN (February 16, 2021) – Waypoint Vets founder, Sarah Lee, completed a 4,010 mile coast to coast Cycling Journey, honoring the fallen, discussing veteran’s issues, and to bring awareness to the staggering veteran suicide rate. Upon finishing, she founded and built Waypoint Vets Inc, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization with the mission of Uniting and Empowering Veterans through Activities and Adventure. Their inaugural adventure took place in October 2020. Now five new adventures are planned; all to be free of charge to military veterans of any branch of service. A 30-Day GoFundMe campaign is being launched on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 to make them possible, and all donations will be matched.
Hot Shot’s Secret founder, Chris Gabrelcik, became so impressed with Waypoint Vets’ mission of uniting and empowering veterans, he chose to financially sponsor the organization’s first inaugural canyoneering event in October with a $10,000 gift. Upon learning the positive impact it had on the veteran participants, he encouraged Lee to start a 30-Day GoFundMe Charity campaign where Hot Shot’s Secret would fully match all donations made between 2/16/21 – 3/17/21 to raise funds for five new adventures.
The campaign will fund five upcoming Waypoint Vets Adventures
- 7-Day Canyoneering Trip in Utah
- 5-Day Mountaineering Adventure to Summit Mount Rainier
- 6-Day Women Veteran’s Retreat in Destin, FL
- 6-Day Canyoneering / Kayaking Trip at Lake Powell
- 8-Day Storm Chasing Adventure throughout the Midwest
Waypoint Vets facilitates opportunities of camaraderie and healing for military veterans across America at no cost to them.” says Lee. “Our adventures combine physical and mental intensity with the stillness and beauty of nature. The heartbeat of Waypoint Vets mission is Honoring our Fallen by Living, and taking back our health and happiness together. Our veteran participants are given custom dog tags with the names of their fallen. We carry them along with us on all our adventures to not only honor the memory of those lost in war but to the war within.
“The healing and clarity I received saved my life, and I’m adamant about using what I gained to make a real difference going forward. I want my fellow veterans to understand that they are capable and deserving of great things, and that they’re not alone. I vow to be an active part of the solution in addressing our issues, combatting our suicide rate, and by leaving a positive impact on our community.” Sarah Lee, Army Combat Veteran and Founder
