Fletcher, NC… November 4, 2014 – MAHLE EcoBoost 2.0L Pistons are then triple-coated first with a phosphate dry film to protect the pin bores from galling followed by application of MAHLE’s proprietary anti-friction Grafal® which is applied to the skirts. Finally, to withstand the higher cylinder temperatures and pressures associated with boosted, direct injection applications, the top ring grooves are hard anodized to protect against micro-welding. In addition these top ring lands feature alloy material delivering added strength.
